National Self-Care Month

September is National Self-Care Month.

Per Google AI self-care is comprised of intentional habits: Any activity chosen to maintain health and reduce daily stress.

The core pillars are: Physical health (sleep, nutrition, exercise), emotional health (mindfulness, journaling), and social connection.

To practice being good to ourselves is the key difference. To allow ourselves to express our feelings. To be extra kind and caring to ourselves when going through a hardship.

I read elsewhere that this month is the time to take the Self-care Challenge:

To engage in one act of self-care each day this month.

It might be simple however not easy to commit to self-care.

I’ll end here by saying that we should abolish the word “right” from our vocabulary when talking about how we think feel live act dress and love.

To feel like you and I must do only the right things all the time is a mistake. In keeping with what I wrote about the technique I called the Nutrition ID it lies with each of us to take what we read and hear and filter it through our own judgment of whether doing that thing would be the right approach for us.

Coming up a twist on what to eat.
