The takeaway is that you don’t have to collect SSI the rest of your life. A portion of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia might have to. Yet as of today I can confidently state that if you want to get a job, you deserve to try. And if the first job doesn’t work out you can try another.
Like I’m famous for saying my life didn’t take off until I turned 35 and found a better job I liked and was good at.
Giving up hope is not the answer.
I went to library school with a woman who was in her early seventies.
So there.
It’s not ever too late for the tide to turn in a person’s life.
